Soy Dangers
If you're the mother of an infant, this may be of extreme interest to you. Milk-based commercial formuals are bad enough, but those based on soy protein are worse. The list of toxins in soy is long: phytic acid, which blocks absorption of minerals; protease inhibitors which block protein digestion; and high levels of aluminum, fluoride, MSG, and manganese, all of which can have adverse effects on the brain and nervous system. But the cause of greatest concern is the phytoestrogens or isoflavones in soy. These compounds not only depress thyroid function, they can have profound hormonal effects. A recent study of infants fed soy formula found that they had concentration of estrogen compounds at levels 13,000 to 22,000 times higher than infants on milk-based formual or breast milk. Researchers are now wondering whether feeding infant boys this estrogen-rich soy formula is a partial explanation for the increase in learning disabilities and maturation problems. Soy infant feeding may also explain why so many girls are developing sexual characteristics before they're even eight years old.
Motion is Life
Here we will discuss various exercises from beginner to advanced...getting you up and moving. Look for a new one each week.
This week, let's take the first step...literally. We want you to get up and get going..take a brisk 30 minute walk outside (a little sunshine is good for the mind and body) or in if you have access to a treadmill. If not, simply make a few trips up and down your stairs. If you have time to spend 30 minutes on "facebook" or "you-tube" etc. then you have time to walk. Come on...no excuses...just do it! You'll be glad you did.
Recipe of the Week
Sesame Buffalo WIngs
24 chicken wings
1/2 cup naturally femented soy sauce
1/2 cup rice vinegar
2 tblsp. honey
juice of 2 lemons
grated rind of 2 lemons
1 clove garlic, peeled and mashed
1 tsp. curry powder
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp. pepper
3 tblsp. melted butter (the real stuff...prefferably organic...none of that hydrogenated vegetable oil matter)
1/4 sesame seeds
Mix soy sauce, vinegar, honey, lemon juice, lemon rind and all seasonings. Marinate wings in the mixture several hours or overnight. Remove from mixture and pat dry. Place in a stainless steel baking pan, brush with butter, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake at 350 degrees about 1 1/4 hours. May be served with marinade, gently heated, as a dip.
Name this Food
Here we will list ingredients found in some very common foods. You won't believe what you're eating when you spread Miracle Whip on your sandwich. Each week will be a new list of ingredients and the answer, along with some explanation as to why these "common" ingredients are killing us.
Strawberry filling (corn syrup, dextrose, strawberries, crachermeal, apples, wheat starch, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, citric acid, xantham fun, red #40), enriched wheat flour, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, corn syrup, sugar, whey, dextrose, sal, baking powder, baking soda. Vitamins and minerals: niacinamide, iron, vitamin A (palmitate), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B1 (thiamin hydrochloride), and folic acid.

How to get Sick
In this section we will discuss various ways to ensure that you get sick (unusual, I know) but good for stirring up thought processes. All the ideas listed here are directly from the book, "The Maker's Diet" which is highly recommended and included in our suggested reading below. The prescriptions for illness that you'll find below are the recommendations of the "world." But, if you want to remain healthy as long as possible, have the courage to go against what "they" tell you and do your own research, examine the evidence, and you'll see why these items are included here.
"Under ideal conditions, everyone would be born perfect and without flaws. In reality, we all carry genetic and metabolic weaknesses and are constantly bombarded and attacked by potentially harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and industrial toxins." We all have predetermined weaknesses in our bodies wether they be manifested in the lungs, cardiovascular system, the blood, the kidneys, etc... "If we eat unhealthy foods and adopt unwise lifestyles, we may well see these predetermined weaknesses present themselves as devastating symptoms."
1. Stay out of the Sun
"Civilizations throughout history have understood that the sun is vital to human health. The human skin uses the energy from the sun to manufacture vitamin D for the body. This hormone/vitamin is important for many reasons, including its role in strengthening immune system function and proper mineral absorption." Sun critics are always telling us to stay out of the sun and avoid UV rays...believing that they cause skin cancer. This could be true for a small population with compromised immune systems who don't have adequate nutrients. However, those people who are exposed to the most sun in other parts of the world have the lowest incidence of skin cancer. Hmmm...go figure...God gave us the Sunlight; exposure to it is not unhealthy. "What is unhealthy is exposure to sunlight with the diets we consume. Rex Russell, M.D., notes that when sunlight activates the phytochemicals in healthy foods, consumption of these foods not only blocks the harmful effects of UV rays, but they also produce "antiviral, antibacterial, and anticancer components, as well as pest repellents."
